HISTORY
THE HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE
The Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of National Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) was founded as an official body in 1945. The Institute was renamed the Institute of History and Philosophy between 1945-1950, 1950-1956, Sector of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (AS) in 1956-1967, Institute of Philosophy and Law from 1967 to June, 2002, the Institute of Philosophy and Political-Legal Studies in 2002-2008, the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law from January, 2009 to February, 2014, the Institute of Philosophy and Law since March, 2014, and the Institute of Philosophy since April, 2016. The organization of the Institute of Philosophy has been related to the name of academician Haydar Huseinov, the vice-president of AS of Azerbaijan, the chairman of the department of social sciences.
