History and Development of the Department

The Department of Philosophical Problems of Ecology was founded for the first time in the territory of the former USSR by Professor, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences Aghayar Shukurov. Until 2006, the department published 46 issues of the collection entitled “Ecology. Philosophy. Culture.”
From 1991 until November 2008, the department was headed by Professor A. Shukurov. Over the years, the name of the department has been changed several times, reflecting various research directions in philosophy and related disciplines:

  • Development of ethical and normative frameworks for digital governance and the use of artificial intelligence in social systems;
  • Formulation of philosophical foundations for digital transformation and artificial intelligence strategies for Azerbaijan;
  • Preparation of proposals, analytical reports, and expert opinions for scientific and governmental institutions;
  • Impact of artificial intelligence and the Fourth Industrial Revolution on the information society;
  • Contemporary concepts of the information society and their sociological and philosophical content.
